Yandamuri Veerendranath (born 25 December 1920, as Vembavalli Chunduri Yandamuri) is an Indian writer of children's literature.He was associated with the Telugu News paper Andhra Jyothi as a sub editor. He is noted for writing a series of novels based on Telugu history called Akka Yudham (가개요말) (English: Legend), which were considered highly imaginative at the time. This prompted the government of Andhra Pradesh to commission the translations of the first four books into Telugu as Nireeksha (1965). Yandamuri Veerendranath was chosen by Telugu politician, eminent journalist and academic, YS.Vasireddy Nageswara Rao, to edit a series of novels to celebrate the traditional culture of Andhra Pradesh as a series entitled Akka Yudham (가개요말). This series of novels in ten volumes was later followed by Yandamuri Veerendranath's historical novels.Yandamuri Veerendranath is a Telugu novelist and has authored novels such as Nireeksha, Kanaka Pathu, Kathana Konata, Tabbaliyu, Svaroopam and many others. He is also a critic of several books. Yandamuri Veerendranath was awarded the Nellore Literature Award by the Nellore District Government for his achievements in literature. Yandamuri Veerendranath was widely regarded as the first modern Telugu novelist and was also referred to as the father of modern Telugu literature.
