Users of flashcarts such as the MyFlash chips can install the Flashcart Firmware Stretch package to enable use of these devices on the ZSNEGAT4T and ZSNEGAT4G. Supported flashcarts include the following: FAST (eZ430): A2 flashcart designed for use with the eZ430 FET and other ARM-based microcontrollers. The FAST compression package includes 4 temporary files (*.tmp) that can reside on the flashcart's SD card and increase the overall system size by as much as 30%. These files are not flashed, but are written to the flashcart's internal storage (§[s:flashcarts]). RK3188: A2 flashcart designed for use with the RK3188 and other ARM-based microcontrollers. It contains a small bit of embedded software and compressed firmware that provides a default blocklist for the chip. The blocklist is embedded on the flashcart's SD card. It is recommended that users remove any blocklists that they may already have on their flashcart for use with this package.
As Lustre does not require a Lustre-patched kernel to run, a standalone installation of the Lustre client may also be run on, e.g., standalone Windows or Mac systems. If Lustre is to be run on non-Linux systems, please refer to the standalone version's documentation for installation of Lustre-patched kernels and Lustre clients.
The Lustre client software requires a flashcart that is compliant with the currently available firmware format. We initially shipped design workflows with pre-configured firmware for a number of different flash cart technologies, but as these have changed over time it is important that the user can choose the appropriate firmware format that fits their flashcart best (and we are not recommending any one manufacturer as we didn't want to take away any of their specific system features).
